Individual clients can obtain a loss form also from our Customer Service. Please note however, that claims handling can't be done over the phone. Loss notification must always be sent to us in writing. Instructions on how to fill in the Loss form and which attachments are needed can be found in the Loss notification forms.

When we receive your Loss notification we will contact you. In case additional information is required, we will request this information in writing. Claim decision will be sent to you by mail or email.

Individual losses

In case of emergency while travelling abroad contact our Emergency Assistance Service.

Please note that an insurance card is not a credit card. Invoices cannot be sent directly to AIG Finland without prior consent. In cases of minor costs, the insured must first meet these costs themselves before subsequently applying for indemnity from AIG Finland. For medical treatment expenses incurred in Finland, the insured should apply for compensation under the Finnish Health Insurance Act. Such compensation can be applied for when paying the incurred expenses at the medical center.

Travel Insurances

Group Accident Insurance for the residents of a housing company

Please use this form if you wish to make a claim related to Group Accident Insurance taken out by a housing company.

Price Guard and Product Safety Insurance

Please use this form if you wish to make a claim related to Price Guard or Product Safety Insurance associated with credit card purchase.

Corporate losses

In case of Marine loss or damage

  1. Inspect the goods immediately upon receipt
    Should there be visible damage or suspicion of such, please mark notification on the delivery note. If the damage is found later on, send a written reclamation to the carrier immediately.

  2. Please contact the nearest AIG office immediately. You will find the nearest AIG office on www.aig.com/marinedirectory.  Do not forward the damaged item before AIG is involved.

  3. Minimize the loss or damage.
    Care must be taken of the damaged cargo.

  4. Do not change the condition of the consignment nor the packing before a surveyor is present.

Documentation of claims

  1. Bill of lading and/or other contract of carriage
  2. Commercial invoice
  3. Reclamation made to the carrier
  4. Correspondence changed with the carriers and/or other parties regarding the liability for the loss or damage
  5. Survey report, if available and pictures of the loss
  6. Receipts and invoices regarding the repair costs
  7. Shipping invoices, packing list etc.

In case of Liability loss or damage

  1. Measures to be taken immediately upon notice of the damage
    Minimize the loss or damage.

  2. The insured should not make an admission of liability or take any action which may be construed as an admission of liability without a prior written consent of AIG Finland.

  3. Survey and inspection
    Please notify the loss immediately to AIG Finland by filling a loss notification form and sending it to AIG. Claims can also be reported over the phone to +358 207 010 100 or via e-mail to FinlandClaims@aig.com

  4. When sending the claim form, please enclose any and all documentation necessary to establish the legal liability of the insured. If needed, AIG Finland will request additional information.

  5. AIG Finland will handle the claim and make a coverage decision regarding the loss. The claimant will be notified in writing.

In case of Property loss or damage

  1. Measures to be taken immediately upon notice of the damage
    Steps must be taken in order to minimize the loss.

  2. Survey and inspection
    Please notify the loss immediately to AIG Finland. Claims can also be reported over the phone to +358 207 010 100 or via e-mail to FinlandClaims@aig.com

    After office hours any acute loss has to be notified to Crawford & Co, who will send a representative to the loss scene if needed

    Crawford & Co will act as AIG Finland representative and assists in preventing any further loss or damage (including contacts to post-loss prevention companies).

  3. Police report
    The loss or damage has to be notified to the police, if there is reason to believe that a crime has been committed.

  4. Claim application
    The claimant should submit an itemized claim to the insurance company. The use of a loss notificaton form is recommended.

  5. Documentation needed in claims handling
    Copies of invoices and other documents (e.g. police reports, humidity survey reports, security firm reports) regarding the loss should be attached to the claim notification as soon as available.

  6. Coverage Decision  
    AIG Finland will handle the claim and make a written coverage decision, which will be sent to the claimant.

In case of Financial Lines loss

1.    Please notify the loss immediately to AIG Finland. Claims can be reported via e-mail to finlandclaims@aig.com or by phone  +358 207 010 100.

2.    The Insured should not make an admission of liability or take any action which may be construed as an admission of liability without a prior written consent of AIG Finland.

3.    When notifying the claim, please enclose any and all documentation necessary to establish the legal liability of the insured. If needed, AIG Finland will request additional information.
